Yorkshire Events 2010
Yorkshire events cover a multitude of themes. There are food and drink festivals
in the Dales and the city of York, a National Ales festival in Masham and of course
many farmers' markets thoughout Yorkshire. Popular music festivals in Yorkshire
include Early Music (Beverley) to rock at the Leeds Festival.

Yorkshire Events in September 2010 - Monday 20th September 2010: Nidderdale Show - Bewerley Park, Pateley Bridge
The Annual Nidderdale Show is one of the county's foremost agricultural shows, and
celebrates the finest of agricultural traditions with top class livestock, horse
and dog sections and it boasts one of the finest exhibitions of animals anywhere
in the UK. It regularly attracts crowds of 20,000 and traditionally marks the end
of the agricultural show season.

- 28th - 31st October 2010: Whitby Goth Weekend - Whitby Pavilion
A twice-yearly event held in April and October, Whitby Goth Weekend has grown into
one of the most popular gothic events in the world, attracting all generations from
across the UK and around the world. Although referred to as a weekend, Whitby Goth
Weekend includes events during the day on Friday and Saturday as well as events
on the Thursday, Sunday and Monday. These events include additional club nights,
markets, and a charity football match. There are often unofficial day events taking
place around the town too.

This years Leeds International Film Festival will consist of 18 days of new and
unseen cinematic treats from around the world. Perfect for film buffs or those who
enjoy the occassional film, the largest film festival in England outside of London
will have a film to suit all tastes - over 200 from around the world.

Sandra Harder, a local flower demonstrator, will be creating many flower arrangements
throughout the evening at this flower demonstration to raise money for Wharfe Valley
Cats Protection. You will be able to see how each arrangement begins and the process
to the stunning end result. You will also be told what flowers and colours are used,
and all the arrangements will be raffled at the end of the night. Tickets are £7
and will include a free glass of wine, and all funds raised from ticket sales and
the raffle will benefit a local charity - Wharfe Valley Cats Protection. This is
a must for the ladies, it will be a very enjoyable evening and will be great to
spend the night with other like minded flower enthusiasts, cat lovers, friends and

HCMF is an annual, international festival of contemporary and new music, over 10
days consisting of approximately 50 events, including concerts, music-theatre, dance,
multi-media, talks and film, with a related Education and Outreach programme devised
and implemented to reflect the programme and respond to regional needs.

The National Centre for Early Music is based in a medieval church in York. Home
of the internationally acclaimed York Early Music Festival, the NCEM promotes a
year-round series of jazz, world, folk and early music concerts as well as a thriving
education programme. - Saturday 4th, Saturday 11th & Saturday 18th December 2010: Grassington Dickensian
Festival
During these three Saturdays Grassington is transported back to the time of Charles
Dickens. See the Christmas lights, the village square and the streets transformed
into a traditional market with shopkeepers, villagers and visitors dressed in Victorian
costume. Enjoy the musicians, dancers, street entertainers and exhibitions of traditional
country crafts. - 1st - 4th December 2010: White Rose Winter Festival at Ripley Castle
This event at the start of the festive season combines heritage, culture, and hospitality
with the very best opera, dance, classical and exciting musical entertainment over
4 nights and 1 matinee show. The five shows will be staged within Ripley Castle's
magnificent courtyard - transformed into a magical auditorium, fully heated with
a range of winter treats on offer; a winter bar, festive food and drink outlets
and festive cheer throughout!

8. - Friday 18th - Sunday 20th February 2011: Coastival - Various venues in Scarborough
Yorkshire Goes to the Seaside with Coastival, a large scale arts festival spread
over 3 days. A celebration of music, dance, theatre, film, visual arts, spoken word
and comedy, as well as Festival of Light events, Coastival will start with a large
parade along the seafront. Coastival is set to be one of the major arts and cultural
experiences of 2011 with 30 venues and 100 gigs, performances, exhibitions, readings,

Bradford's National Media Museum hosts the annual Bradford Film Festival. Alongside
dozens of premières and previews, a series of masterclasses, "Screentalk" interviews,
film symposia, silent-film events, director showcases and tributes to cinema veterans
mean it's one of Bradford's most comprehensive cultural events.
