The common areas of the hotel were very pleasant, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was also very good and the location to the city centre was most convenient. The room was comfortable, however, there was mildew in the shower and the carpet and chairs were stained. The wireless internet was also not working during my stay which was rather inconvenient and instead had to rely on the one guest computer with functioning internet, for which there was often a queue to use. The cleaning staff also stacked the fresh linens on the floor in the hallway when preparing to clean which does not seem very sanitary. Would probably have another go at staying there however, as I suspect the sub-par experience might be due to having stayed during the 'slow-period'.

Location ideal for walking into York (along river when not so muddy) and excellent car park. Friendly staff. Beds very comfortable, breakfast superb. Parts of the decoration in room were tired looking and curtains hanging off pole caught our eye immediately but overall very good value.

Was lovely place. Bedroom very nice - stayed in 4 poster bedroom. All clean (lovely fresh smelling laundered bedding) and spacious. Only quibble was traffic noise due to single pane windows. Would go again, but would ask to stay in room overlooking gardens. Short walk to shops etc. so ideal location AND with own parking which is a bonus. We stayed mid-week when there was offer on rooms so got total bargain. Would recommend to anyone (but ask for room at back)

Having stayed at the Priory before I have to admit to being disappointed with the our room which, by comparison with our previous stay. was very cramped with very little room to move around the double bed. This is my only complaint as service, cleanliness and the food was fine.

The Priory Guesthouse was wonderful. Friendly, accommodating staff and good location made my stay in York relaxing and enjoyable. The only thing amiss was the low water pressure in the shower, but the comfortable rooms, free Wi/Fi, and helpful staff practically balanced it all out. I highly recommend the York Priory Guesthouse to anyone who wants an atmospheric and logistical hotel in York.

My partner and I stayed here again as we love the hotel and it's in a great location. The rooms are fantastic and hotel decor is fantastic. The hotel also has it's own licenced bar which is great. The breakfast is great...a nice why to start a day sightseeing. We love York and we love this hotel

room was very small, and the pillows were very hard, not a lot of storage space, also ran out of black pudding two days on the run, enough staff to go to the shops or super market.

Easy to find on one of main roads into York. Very friendly welcome and directions given for lovely riverside walk into city centre. Had four post room which was very comfortable and bathroom was large and very clean. Extra large towels were a real treat. Breakfast was very good and again friendly staff. Only downside was traffic noise but this is to be expected from its location but would recommend asking for room at the back of hotel if this is likely to bother you. Would definitely stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at York Priory. The only minor criticism we had was; we would have preferred white cups in our room ( not the brown Pyrex ) and the fruit offered with breakfast would have been better, if cut up to eat. As we commented at the time of leaving, the staff were excellent and very friendly which contributed to our enjoyment.

We stayed at the York Priory when my son visited York University. The hotel is well situated for going to the University and the City and both could be accessed on foot or by bus. There is a pleasant walk into the city along the riverside. The free hotel carpark and close proximity to everywhere meant that we did not need to drive out after our journey and were able to leave the car there for a few hours the following day after our check out time. The receptionist was knowledgeable and provided local information about where to eat and the local bus and taxi services. The breakfast was just what we wanted. I will check into this hotel again as it was good value for money too. There was also a file about locally recommended places to see and where to eat as well as tourist information leaflets.

A lovely place to stay. A warm welcome on arrival and all the staff were friendly throughout our stay. Elizabeth & her team are great - nothing was too much trouble - any questions or problems were dealt with quickly. The check-in / out process was extremely efficient - which makes a change!! Location is great a 10minute walk along the river and you are in the centre of York - so it's close enough to walk but far enough away not to be disturbed by late night noise. Would definetly stay here again.

We have been going to the hotel for the last 9 years staying for weekends or overnight; with and without children; with and without our guide dog.
Liz and everyone welcome us back like part of the family which always makes us feel special. Our new guide dog enjoyed his stay and there are some lovely walks to be had early in the morning along the riverside before breakfast. You can leave your car at the hotel and take a nice stroll into York, only 10 mins away, without worrying about paying for parking.
This last time we stayed in the four poster room which was really lovely.
Keep up the good work Liz.
We will definitely be back.
